Freedom and Forgetting, a National Poetry Month Post

by perpetualflaneur

Because it is National Poetry Month and because I love poetry. Every once in a while, I find myself scribbling on my little notebook or notes application, and when it happens, I write some poetry. Appreciation and expression, that’s what it is!

it gets tiring you know
this constant to and fro,
the back and forth,
the yes and no.
it gets upsetting you see
the life you are imposing unto me
the endless cautions,
the countless drag of emotions.
once and for all,
let me be,
set me free.

forgetting

cut the ties
let loose
sever the bond
that’s of no use.
what was once
was misplaced
lost in the folds
of life’s disgrace.
